Go above and beyond and say "I Love You" in a special way with the Boheme and custom lid design saying "I love you because..." paired with love letters, over 200 photographs of your favorite memories together, chocolates, and a pink bottle with beach sand from a special trip you've made together. Keep it all together, for years to come.
And a special tip - every once in a while, put a new love letter in there to surprise your special someone for the next time they open their heirloom.
Having something American Made to us means the blood, sweat, and tears of our neighbors, family, and friends were used in the construction of that product/service. There's a strong pride in America to provide the highest quality possible and we think having that pride develops the need for the best products. It means providing American jobs and giving back to the community that allows us to have our business. It means having a product that will last you a lifetime, instead of being disposable. It means tax dollars for our communities. It means giving our time to the quality of products Americans can expect from an American Made company.
BW started when my wife Sara needed a method for presenting her fine art photography to her clients. Surprisingly, there wasn't many high-end companies specializing in photography and keepsake presentation boxes. Having talked with other photographers and understanding they all had the same need, BW was born.
We pride ourselves in building quality wooden heirlooms that will last generations! Sara and I remembered when we looked through our grandparents photographs. It was always a humbling experience and brought us closer to our families. With the digital age, photography prints have been forgotten and our mission is to provide a way to safely store those memories in an archival way and encourage the art of the tangible print.
Our process includes sourcing wood from a supplier in Wisconsin, hand making each piece of the boxes using extremely strong finger joints, providing custom options for each keepsake, all while keeping each box archival.
Our business stands out from our competitors because of the quality put into the heirlooms we create:
We use box joints which have been a quality standard in woodworking since woodworking began. The lid is designed as a slide-out to help prevent warping (a major issue with non-sliding lids) and to also hold the contents inside.
We also offer hand wood-burning on our lids, giving it a hand-made, vintage look. We put a lot of emphasis on customer service and providing the best experience possible. We really pride ourselves in adapting to what our customers want and providing products that they like to see and can use with their keepsakes, prints, heirlooms, etc.
Most importantly, Bohemian Woodworx is the only box company (that we know of to this date) that provides an archival box, meaning we are using natural woods, archival glues and refraining from using nails/staples as well as stains/oils that can break down the box and contents within it.
We were asked to create a custom wedding guest gift with a bumble bee theme. We used the Arlene and did a custom 'Queen Bee' wood burning design for the lid.
Thank you to LMJ Creative for capturing the bride with our Arlene Heirloom Box.
We absolutely love our home but there was one ominous feature that was too overbearing for us to keep... And that was the fireplace. All 20 feet of it had to go. The change is amazing and I'm really excited to show off the final results. We will still be replacing the carpet with hardwoods, which will change the look of the space even more.
We thought we would document the process and share our DIY project with you all for something fun and different. Like I said, we still have a lot more to do with the floors, but like most homes, they're a constant work in progress. If you have any questions, please comment below and we'll do our best to answer them!
Brent used a drill hammer to break up the mortar. It was much faster to do this route than to use a hammer and chisel. The only downfall is that you need to have an air compressor and it's super loud. Also, wear a mask. The amount of dust that occurs while doing this is insane. And safety first.. wear goggles!
We were so excited to be asked to come up with a bumblebee styled Arlene box for Bumblebee Films, a local cinematographer company based in Colorado Springs. Their branding is super unique and we love all the details we were able to incorporate to make The Arlene unique to their company.
This particular Arlene is made of Curly Maple wood. We adore the unique wood grain you get with this particular wood and we immediately knew it would look fantastic with a contrasted wood burned design. The lid design obviously had to feature a bee, and we wanted it to feel vintage and realistic to really make it feel luxurious.
And to say thank you, we picked a small jar and filled it with local honey from Boulder, Colorado and tied a vintage style, tea stained tag with the words, "Over and Over, I fall for you." Vanilla scented dried flowers and nuts went really well with the theme and to finish it off, tea stained packing paper cushions the jar at the bottom of the box.
It's the little details.
We are so excited to see this box in their upcoming styled shoot and for them to display.
Tis the Season to celebrate.
We've made a few changes to our storefront and are now offering wholesale prices. To receive wholesale prices, please join our family of professional vendors. After filling out the form, more information will be sent out via email if you are approved as a wholesale vendor.
We are so excited to announce our newest box, the Durwood, named after Brenton's Grandpa Durwood Bouzek. Grandpa Durwood still, to this day, loves wood working and headed the wood shop at the VA home in Hot Springs, South Dakota. His love of wood crafting has been passed down generation to generation, with now three generations being experts in wood craftsmanship. Doyle, Brent's father, made our earliest prototypes.
The Durwood Box is what we like to call, a true Portfolio Box. This box is large enough to present stunning 10x10" mounted prints wrapped in micro-suede to clients and really "Wow" them on true quality. There's also enough room to add paper goods and memorabilia so that this box turns into an heirloom, preserving important history.
The Durwood Box below is featured in Walnut (Sara's favorite) with a chocolate micro-suede wrap displaying (10) 10x10" mounted deep mat prints from Trevor and Nicole's wedding day.
Well! It's happening. We're creating a business based on customer service and luxurious wooden heirlooms meant to preserve stories captured by professional photographers. The plan is to start small and see how we do, but thus far, the response has been amazing.
It all started with me complaining about the lack of customer service and quality. I told/asked my husband, "Can you just start making me these?" And he said yes, as any good husband does. Here we are now with a website and our first box, The Boheme. We're going to offer more sizes, wood species and options like custom engraving and wraps.
While we work out the details, please be patient. As for now, enjoy a sneak at The Boheme.
