It's important to know which regions woods are native to, as wood will want to adjust to the unique climate it's living within. Before you choose your wood species, please take note on the wood's native region. We have designed our boxes to try to prevent as much warping as possible, but care is still recommended.
Aspen: Aspen trees are typically found in areas that have cool summers in the northern U.S. and Canada as well as higher altitude areas where the summers are mild like the high mountains of Colorado. Aspen trees grow very fast, however, they don't survive long periods like other trees. Their growth rates allow them to be used often for reforestation efforts.
Aromatic Cedar: Aromatic cedar trees are a softwood that is typically found in the Eastern U.S. from Maine all the way down through Florida and West to Texas. The Aromatic Cedar has a distinct scent that you can't forget. It's been used in everything from fence posts, to furniture, to erosion mitigation areas such as mines.
Walnut: Walnut trees are typically found in the Central and Eastern U.S. where the climate is temperate. The Walnut tree has a bold gray to dark-brown color with dramatic grain patterns found within the wood. It's a harder wood that's resistant to warping.
Curly Maple: Curly Maple wood has distinctive curly patterns in the wood. It's not a specific species of wood, it's more of a soft maple species that has unique curls or ripples in the grain pattern that are easily seen with different angles of light. This type of wood is also called the tiger maple and grows mainly in the Northeastern U.S. and Canada.
We sell a majority of our boxes to professionals in the event industry, like photographers, invitation designers and wedding planners/coordinators. Samples are strictly available only for boxes.
To receive the Sample Discount, please use code SAMPLE when checking out.
Bohemian Woodworx does not print or provide photography products. We use ProDPI, in Denver, Colorado, for our photography print samples to display with our products. Our approximate print numbers that each box can hold is also based off ProDPI's print thicknesses.
Every box is made to order. Boxes aren't kept in a warehouse, waiting to be shipped out. We pride ourselves in hand-crafted heirlooms with the utmost attention to detail and customer service.
Each box is measured and cut by hand by Brenton. After the box is assembled, the box is then sanded by hand to bring out the wood's natural beauty. We currently don't offer wood stains as we like our boxes to show off their natural beauty and uniqueness that each piece of wood offers. This is where our expert engravers can then engrave an optional logo or a full-lid picture design to either brand your box with your business or to really create one-of-a-kind art for your client's home.
After the box is prepped, it's then branded, cleaned and a fabric wrap and packaging is added and then shipped out through USPS.
Because we want to ensure the highest quality in our products, please allow 3-4 weeks from the time of ordering to receive your box. If you are adding engraving please allow an additional 1-2 weeks to receive your box (depending on engraving options). With that said, we will do our best to expedite the process and deliver as soon as possible.
Here, at Bohemian Woodworx, we pride ourselves in unique, hand-made artistic heirlooms. Our in-house wood burning is truly unique and we're proud to be one of the only companies offering this technique.
For a true art piece that is unique in it's own right, we recommend and love wood burning. Wood Burning can be a full-lid design hand burned by Sara, a wood burning expert. Please design your files to fit the lid size in a high resolution JPEG file that is strictly black and white with a white background and email to email@example.com
We are happy to design the lid for you for $20 additional to the wood burning upgrade. A proof will be sent to you before the wood burning process begins.

Archival & Preservation
We built Bohemian Woodworx with the intent of preserving family stories. Because of that, we don't use toxic finishes or oil rubs. Our boxes are all-natural... no stains, rubs or finishes. We also use glues that are as acid-free as possible.
Oils, stains and finish chemicals can seep into prints and the items being stored inside, eventually breaking down and destroying those artifacts. We choose to show off the wood's natural beauty and skip the chemicals. We do use water based finish on some of our heirlooms to preserve the wood's natural beauty from environmental affects, especially when water or liquid is expected to come in contact with our heirlooms. Feel free to ask us about which ones!
Because of that, our boxes are safe and Archival.
